Welcome to the John Lewis Memory Store

By Jonathan Blatchford

Welcome to the John Lewis Memory Store archive. The site has been developed by a group of Partners and Retired Partners from across the Partnership. They have worked with the Partnership's archive team to produce a website to help commemorate 150 years of John Lewis, and to build an interactive, evolving memory bank, documenting everything that we love about working for the Partnership.

This website takes a close look at what exactly has happened in the 150 years. As such, concise histories of every branch, closed and current, are to be found under the Branch Finder, and other aspects of the Partnership are duly covered in a number of other categories.

The material which has been entered on to the site is just the tip of the iceberg. We hope many more Partners and customers will help us to build a living picture of the business as a whole, both as it was in years gone by and as it develops in the 21st century.

We have arranged the site into various sections which we hope will make it easy for you to look around and encourage you to enter your own memories of the shops and shopping in the Partnership's department stores.
