During the War Watford was frequently attacked in air raids.  One bomb in 1941 damaged the shop but it managed to remain trading.

The bombing in Watford started very early in the war. Trewins was bombed on January 2 1941 with a hit on the toy department. Good thing it was after Christmas otherwise there would have been a lot of unhappy children in Watford.
